    Hello!

My first post here. I’ve seen great work here  on this thread (and learned a lot too) and decided to take the challenge and submit my version.

My final version attached. I used mostly substances (not sure if it was permitted?) and  plenty of noise mask for layering based on the same concept from the very first post on this thread.

    Good luck for everyone!

@blush Looks great man! Inspiring stuff.

@tandia White paint and cracks look really believable.

Updated a bit. Made a lot of the crack stuff a bit simpler. Added some more variation to the colours. Matched the layout of colours more closely.

    Hi All,

Been following this site for a few challenges. Finally sorted myself out and got a submission ready (extremely thankful for the extended deadline due to starting fairly late!).

Some great images posted already. If someone could share how they create procedural cracks, I’d be super grateful! I’ve unfortunately had to use a texture for mine. Anyway, I’ve learned a lot about how to use noise/ fractals etc. and some new techniques I wouldn’t normally do 🙂

    Anyway, here’s my submission:

    Raw render:
    Raw Render

Post Production: (DOF, Sharpening, Grade, Boosting some weaker reflections)
    Post production

I fully appreciate if doing post work is against the rules, so please discard this image if so! 🙂

My machine is currently chugging through a short animation with the light source spinning to better show off the shader work. Will hopefully upload soon!

    Cheers all

    EDIT:

    Here’s the rendered sequence:

    Hi everyone,
It’s almost fully procedural shader. So, i started to do it with Redshift\maya and finded only few procedural noises whats possible to use. Its was surprise 😀 So, I used few textures, one for chipped paint (still bad :D) and one texture for add more variance in diffuse on rusted metal.

@ewanjwright Hi thanks for your comment ! really appreciate that !
Anyway, here is my latest state right now for this challenge, i just did a bit tweak for the edge displacement inbetween different metals, hopefully it can get through before the time ends !

and here is the shading node since everyone is sharing it.

I tried to put out some gifs so that I can explain the process of each material but it seems like the gif doesnt work here, so just feel free to go here! 🙂 : http://www.adriyantandia.com/chippedmetal
    Thanks! hope that helps 🙂

Пусть это будет финальным рендером, я не успел доработать трещины, и слой с голубой краской, зато доволен первым ржавым =)

    WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT!

Took a little longer than expected, but the results are out! Apologies for the delay.

The quality of this months’ shaders was HUGE. Some really believable work in there. Great work to everyone who participated, shared and learned! However, it is also a competition in the end, so a select few people who stood out should therefore be mentioned.
