Disney’s principled BRDF [2012, Burley] Great paper on Disneys surface shader. Interesting to see on which aspects they actively decided to go non-physical. Understanding the Masking-Shadowing Function in Microfacet-Based BRDFs [Heitz, 2014] Read this if you _properly_ want to understand the roughness parameter in shaders. Discrete Stochastic Microfacet Models [Jakob et al., 2014] Rendering flakes! Let’s make this list long! This topic was modified 6 months, 2 weeks ago by Zeno Pelgrims. If you don’t know Ke-Sen post all CG papers from the most important symposium and conferences around world (GDC, SIGRAPH…) on this website. http://kesen.realtimerendering.com/ Most of those papers are “close access” trough IEEE but there you can access mostly of it for free. I’ve been so amazed by all of Inigo Quilez’s work and it seems to explain certain aspects very well! So , there is some Lessons about some OSL ( Open shading laguage ) on renderman for maya, however you can apply everything in arnold, blender(cylcles) and probably other renderers.
